J. Lohmann Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in SOFA Chicago, 2019. We are delighted to present a collection of exceptional contemporary ceramic and glass works of art by the award winning designers Erna Aaltonen, Heike Brachlow, Sandra Davolio, Fenella Elms, Sidsel Hanum, Sangwoo Kim, Ahryun Lee, Barbara Nanning, Merete Rasmussen and Bae Sejin.
Highlights at SOFA include remarkable new ceramic works by the emerging Paris based artist Kaori Kurihara. Kaori is inspired by nature and in particular by geometric repetitions and ornamentations of plants. It is the coexistence of regularities and irregularities in flowers and vegetables that facinate the artist. This is the first time that Kaori’s stunning sculptures will be exhibited in the United States.
In addition, we are proud to present superb new porcelain sculptures by the emerging designer Olivia Walker. Olivia creates pieces that explore ideas of growth and decay through the build up of complex surfaces. All of her pieces start by being thrown on the wheel, before being built upon with hundreds of individually-applied fragments of porcelain. Her creations make references to organisms of the diverse underwater ecosystem – but are unidentifiable.
We look forward to seeing you at SOFA Chicago.
