J. Lohmann Gallery Presents Curious Creatures by Ahryun Lee and Toni Losey
You are invited on a fantastical voyage to the surreal and imaginative world of a creative assemblage and biomorphic forms by the designers Ahryun Lee and Toni Losey. When gazing upon Ahryun’s and Toni’s creative, bizarre, and curious sculptural creatures, viewers are transported to a state of joyfulness. The metaphysical and whimsical imagery connotes the realm of dreams.
The exhibition space will be an otherworldly and playful experiential wonderland. We will aim to create a tangible fantasy with gestural ceramic forms that reflect the highest level of craftsmanship and inventiveness.
The designs demonstrate new possibilities created from clay in an unexpected and humorous way.
The fantastical quality of the designs do not have a specific origin. They are, however, done with intention. The work offers a slightly unbalanced moment for the viewer as they pivot between the feeling of familiar but otherworldly. This “unbalance” invites further examination and questioning as one tries to place these forms within our experiences of the natural world.
