The ceramic artist Ahryun Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1989 and lives and works in Bavaria, Germany. She graduated from the Royal College of Art, London in 2016, and studied design and ceramics at the National University in Seoul.

Ahryun explores numerous creative possibilities by embracing a global perspective between East and West. Her practice has developed in various ways based on her prowess in combining her unique technical skills alongside her intuitive knowledge of materials. Her work is visually material-driven, highly skillful, and contains striking dualities.

Lee’s art meditates on traditional and contemporary motifs while contemplating the functionality and decorative uses of her art.  Lee’s objective is to create intriguing objects which break down the boundaries between craft, design, and art.

Ahryun Lee is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, and her work is represented in several international public collections. Most recently a collection of sculptures was featured by J. Lohmann Gallery at Design Miami, in 2022.
