Sandrine Pagny was born in Echirolles, France in 1978. She studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Grenoble and trained at the Duperré School of Applied Arts. She obtained an important grant for her ceramic prowess and for several years, with the funding secured from the grant, she honed her technique in collective workshops in Paris and taught ceramics. In 2017, the artist set up a studio in Burgundy and lived and worked since between Paris and Pouilly sur Loire.
Color is at the center of her technical and visual explorations. Sandrine focuses her research on using kaolin first of all for its great plasticity, but also for the luminosity it brings to ceramic engobes as well as the possibility of a wider palette of enamels.
Pagny’s mesmerizing porcelain vessels are being created through turning and hand building techniques.
